( fl c. 144575). Austrian illuminator. He is named from three manuscripts intended for the instruction of the future Maximilian I (c. 14658; Vienna, Österreich. Nbib., MSS 2368, s.n. 2617, 2289). They comprise a reading-book in German and Latin, a Latin grammar and the Doctrinale puerorum (c. 1200) by Alexander de Villa Dei. Apart from one other imperial commission, a prayerbook (c. 14657; Vienna, Österreich. Nbib., MS. 1942) for Maximilians mother, Eleonor of Portugal (143467), he worked for influential citizens of Vienna and high ecclesiastics, the canons of Klosterneuburg and even for Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary, for whom he illuminated a missal (1469; Rome, Vatican, Bib. Apostolica, Ross. 1164).
