Master of St Sebastian (i)

( fl ?Lower Rhine, c. 1470–90). German engraver. He is named after a large-format engraving of St Sebastian (Lehrs, 4). Nine other engravings, including patterns for ornamentation, are attributed to him; few copies of each exist. The question whether the Family of St Anne (Lehrs, 1) is a 19th-century work has not been resolved. Stylistically the somewhat coarsely engraved sheets show a similarity with the work of the Master ? (see §III below) and the Master of the Boccaccio Illustrations, with whom he was once identified, probably erroneously.

Part of the Masters, anonymous, and monogrammists family
