Master of the von Groote Adoration
( fl Antwerp, 151020). South Netherlandish painter. The name was given by Friedländer in 1915 and derived from a triptych of the Adoration of the Magi (ex-Freiherr von Groote priv. col., Kitzburg; see Friedländer, 1915, pls 367). The same subject is treated in several other altarpieces attributed to the Master, as is the Lamentation (e.g. Vienna, Akad. Bild. Kst.), although the homogeneity of the works attributed to this Master presents serious problems.
