    Profile:

Kengo Kimura was initiated into the old JWA in January, 1972, debuting in August of that year against Akio Sato. Under the recommendation of his mentor, Seiji Sakaguchi, he moved to Antonio Inoki's New Japan in March, 1973. He left on an overseas learning excursion to Mexico's CMLL and the NWA Los Angeles territory in the late 1970's, under the oriental persona of Pak Choo, and won the NWA International Jr. Heavyweight Title from Bret Hart. In December, 1986, following his graduation to the heavyweight division, he formed what would become one of the most successful tag teams ever with Tatsumi Fujinami. The two enjoyed four reigns as IWGP Tag Team Champions, the first beginning in 1985, the last ending in 1997. In August, 1992, he joined Shiro Koshinaka's Heisei Ishingun, an anti-New Japan movement, where he remained until the group disbanded in February, 1999. From October, 2000, he became a colour commentator for New Japan's World Pro Wrestling show on TV Asahi, and in March, 2001, he was appointed head scout of New Japan, searching the country for young prospects. Following several years of inactivity in the ring, he performed a nine match retirement countdown early in 2003, which concluded in April at Tokyo Korakuen Hall when he faced Fujinami disciple, Osamu Nishimura. Although he was never a major singles star after his heavyweight turn, unlike Fujinami, Kengo Kimura played an instrumental part in New Japan's history, involved in many memorable matches and moments.
