Review

GA have resuscitated pop's corpse by wedding chart-friendly melodies to experimental avant-garde sounds, particularly on the sublime "Swinging London Town"

by Talia Kraines
21 June 2007

Quirky, modern and dripping with attitude Chemistry is here, and holds no disappointments.

Produced solely by pop darlings Xenomania, the girls rip through a variety of styles, paces and Neneh Cherry-esque raps, sometimes, as in "Biology", all withinthe samesong.

Able to finally perform equally well on ballads as up-tempo tracks, the infectious chorus to "Models" is a brilliant example of their trademark strutting attitude, while "Whole Lotta History" stands out as a lush ballad reminiscent of the Spice Girls.

Whoever said pop was dead? GA have resuscitated its corpse by wedding chart-friendly melodies to experimental avant-garde sounds, particularly on the sublime "Swinging London Town"

These girls are banging on your door and dying to start a party. I dare you to let them in.

Even better than What Will The Neighbours Say - Models, Wild Horses and Swinging London Town will surely go down as classics. Pop Album Of The Year, no contest.

I think the album is great, but their "What Will The Neighbours Say?" is still the best one!

Caffrine. me love da grrlssz.

I absolutely love this album. It's a great release for the girls, with each song just getting better and better. Personal favourites are Racy Lacey, Watch Me Go, Waiting, Models, Wild Horses and Whole Lotta History. This has to be the album of the year!! Girls Aloud have yet again surpassed themselves. 10/10
louise, essex

Another consistently strong set from the girls. Like many, I expected them to disappear without trace after album number one. Based on the evidence of this album, they'll be with us for some time to come, and when pop is done this well that's no bad thing.
Mike, London

This is the best pop album out now. Girls aloud are the best talent out of a tv show. Great songs. The best!
Tolu from London

head and shoulders above, james blunt, kt tunstul, kaiser chiefs, paul weller, coldplay. we live in dark times and they are a light (strictly in the entertainment sense)
john

I think this is probaby there second best album and is not as good as what will the neighbours say.I would like it more if not all the songs were produced by Xenomaina, as variety is the key.
Aaliyah,Liverpool

absaloutly brilliant girls aloud are alway's brilliant my favourite song is "Whole Lotta History" and "Models" and "Intro".
nik

I was actually a little disappointed with this album. i've got the previous 2 albums and I think the 1st one is still the best! The best track is Models and the rest is a bit boring!
Heather, Scotland

I've got the Girls Aloud album and I think it's quite good (I'd say 4/5) because unlike the Pussycat Dolls' album they don't have boring filler songs and their songs seem very sopihisticated. Lovin' it!
