Facilities
The Centre for Geotechnical Research has a large range of testing equipment to examine the strength of soils and behaviour of many different foundations.
The ring shear machine enables exmination of the large strain behaviour of sand at the interface of a pile.
The high temperature triaxial machine examines soil strengths at temperatures in excess of 100 degrees, and has been used to examine landfill contamination.
This triaxial testing machine has been adapted to measure stiffness under very small strains using shear waves.
CGR recently purchased two new shearbox apparatus for use in both research and teaching purposes
In collaboration with The University of Western Australia, this test rig for testing behaviour under simple shear has been developed
Staff and postgrads from CGR take an active involvement in the training of the next generation of geotechnical engineers.
