Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

(Sundays, 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET)

Put together one very run-down house, a deserving family, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is - "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The show's successful first season garnered an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program, and awards garnered during the second season include the People's Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show/Makeover and the Family Television Award for Best Alternative/Reality Program.

Winning its Sunday 8 o'clock time period in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic in each of its first two seasons on the air, ABC's broad-appealing "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" also ranked No. 1 in its hour this season among Total Viewers, across each of the adult demographics, as well as among Teens and Kids. "Home Edition" grew sharply from its first season to its second season, gaining 4.7 million viewers (15.8 million vs. 11.1 million) and 51% among Adults 18-49 (6.5/16 vs. 4.3/11).

Each episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve, involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house - every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping.

The lives of the lucky families are forever changed when they learn that they have been selected to have their home walls moved, their floors replaced and even their façades radically changed. The result should be a decorator's delight... if it can be done in time.

Each episode begins with team leader Ty Pennington's now-famous "Good morning!" wake-up call, when he, along with the other designers, surprises the unsuspecting family with news that their home has been chosen to receive a makeover. Then viewers witness not only the unbelievable transformation of the house, but during the final and emotional reveal, they see how the home makeover has impacted the lives of the deserving families.

The design team includes team leader and carpenter Ty Pennington, Paul DiMeo (carpentry/attitude), Paige Hemmis (carpentry/nut & bolts), Michael Moloney (interiors/glamour), Constance Ramos (building/planning), Ed Sanders (construction), Preston Sharp (exteriors/big ideas) and Eduardo Xol (landscaping), plus two new team members this season, Tanya McQueen (designer) and Daniel Kucan (designer).

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is President of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Tom Forman and premiered December 3, 2003, on the ABC Television Network. It will have its season premiere on Sunday, September 25, 2005.
