Third annual Unity Days begins today
A mass of sign-carrying, chanting marchers will walk through campus and the downtown area Saturday. They will represent many varieties of skin pigment, many ethnic backgrounds and many ages -- but they will come together as one for the march.

Multiculturalism debated
Although contrasting opinions surfaced at a multiculturalism debate last night, the two sides had more in common than expected.

Series hosts poet at reading tonight
Mark Doty, a prominent gay poet, will speak tonight as part of "Diverse Voices: A Multicultural Reading Series" sponsored by the M.F.A. Program in the Department of English. According to the department's World Wide Web site, the presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. in 112 Kern.

Battle to keep Movin' On

Beers' 12-pack of homers to battle Cornell
Dan Beers does not like hitting indoors.
This was evident during the preseason. With the Nittany Lion baseball team forced to practice inside because of bad weather, Penn State's right fielder struggled mightily. Beers' indoor problems culminated with him starting the season on the bench.

After Ohio State stumbled through this year's Big Ten men's gymnastics championships in Michigan, first-year Buckeye head coach Miles Avery felt huge disappointment and a long way from where he will be on Thursday -- the NCAA Championships.

Christie Winkler never really had a nickname before she joined the Penn State women's rugby team. Almost everyone on the team has a nickname to keep players from getting confused.
