New looks, choices in store for HUB Eateries in fall
All former HUB Eateries have been renovated and renamed, although
they will be located in the same area on the ground floor.
Council members suggest balconies add to rowdiness
The riot last weekend, during which bottles, toilet paper and
possibly a party ball flew off balconies onto Beaver Avenue, has
raised State College Borough Council concerns about high-rise
balconies.
Vote on rezoning proposal set for tonight’s meeting
After seven months of discussion, the State College Borough Council
plans to vote on the Highlands rezoning issue at its meeting tonight.

LEAP program helps freshmen adjust
Laundry, meals, unadulterated free time and the looming specters
of papers and exams all conspire to make freshman transition an
unmanageable period of insanity. The Learning Edge Academic Program (LEAP), which is in its third summer, attempts to make this experience easier for some freshmen.

Longtime Penn State librarian dies at 68
Charles Mann, who worked for four decades as Penn State's rare
book librarian, died Friday in Baltimore at age 68. Aside from his library position, Mann also worked as an English and comparative literature professor. He is survived by his wife, Nancy McCall, a medical archivist at Johns Hopkins University.

Ticket prices on the rise
Recently, the student price of admission to home football games increased
from $80 to $91. For the 20,000 or so students with season tickets
who attend games at the 93,967-seat Beaver Stadium every season,
this price difference has been an eye opener.
Track recruit leaves hospital after serious accident
Kathy Messner, the holder of the nation's high jump record, had
captured yet another honor, an Amateur Athletic Union regional
title in Horsham, Pa. A week later the soon-to-be Penn State freshman
was fighting for her life after a terrible automobile accident
left her paralyzed.
