Spanier's show focuses on causes of riot
State College Police Chief Tom King and State College Mayor Bill
Welch joined Spanier on his radio call-in show to talk about whether or not the riot was a result of students revolting against the police or university and what role alcohol and balconies had to play in the incident.
Civil suit filed against four officers
The plaintiff is Seth Porter (junior-journalism); his attorney
filed the suit, which states that his state and federal constitutional
rights were violated when police officers violently assaulted
him without apparent cause.
Options open for excess baggage
Ways students moving during the next days can get rid of extra
food or clothing can be as simple as donating the items to various
organizations.
Borough council approves acquisition of property
The property, located at 236 S. Allen St., will be used to expand
Central Parklet, and will possibly be used for a future pedestrian
walkway.
Parking garages to be renovated
The garages located on Fraser, McAllister and Pugh streets are
all undergoing work to repair and improve the structures that
should be finished by mid-August, said Mark Whitfield, assistant
director of public works for the State College Borough.

Poole named to fill Jones' provost post
Thomas G. Poole, assistant vice provost for educational equity,
will replace Walter Terrell Jones as associate vice provost for
educational equity.

Choice in store for new wrestling coach
The Penn State wrestling team has undergone a new look for the
upcoming season. Troy Sunderland has replaced John Fritz as coach, but that might not be the only change for the upcoming season.
