Currencies made of Iwami Silver
The followings are the currencies made of Iwami Silver.
 Otoriosame-chogin
[Muromachi Period, 16th century]

It was an offering from Mori to Oogimachi Emperor on his enthronement in 1557. There is a hallmark on the face, and its weight and signature are on the back. (Property of Shimane Prefectural Board of Education)

 Sekishu bunroku-kuyogin
[Azuchi-Momoyama Period, 16th century]

It is said that, when sending military to Korea, Toyotomi Hideyoshi ordered to mint silver coins out of Iwami Silver in order to cover war expenditure. A record written in the Edo Period also confirms it. (Property of Currency Museum, Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, Bank of Japan)

[L]Silver made by cupellation called"haifuki" in the Iwami Mine. 15 coins intact and 29 parts of coins into which the coins were cut when used were dug out in Yamaguchi pref. in the Edo Period. On the back of one larger coin among them, the date of production is written, showing that it was used in the Mori territory at that time. (Property of the Mori Museum)
