COLAS at The Tower of London

Cross-section of Roman Wall, after John MaloneyThe City of London Archaeological Society has been excavating and studying London's history since the mid 1960's.

It has had the privilege of working alongside the archaeologists from the Museum of London on many of the great Roman, Saxon and medieval digs beneath the city's streets and buildings. It has also conducted excavations in its own right.

Anyone can join the Society, which is also a registered charity. COLAS offers plenty of activities to get involved with:

  • Monthly lectures on all aspects of archaeology and history
  • Survey work with the Thames Archaeological Survey
  • Regular visits and walks to places of interest in London.
  • Regular coach outings further afield.
  • Quarterly journal - Context
  • A chance to make friends with other like-minded people!
