The hub on the Main: Frankfurt is Germany’s most international city. Best-known landmark: Frankfurt’s skyline. There will be spectacular illuminations of the city’s skyscrapers for the World Cup. The stadium with a retractable roof has been called the “world’s largest cabriolet”. Marking the topping-out ceremony Frankfurt’s Mayor Petra Roth said: “Forty million passengers arrive at Frankfurt’s Rhine-Main Airport every year, and the first thing most of them will see from the plane will be the new stadium.
