ITB Berlin
ITB Berlin is the meeting place and trendsetter for the global tourist industry. Every year at the beginning of March more than 10,000 enterprises from 180 countries and just under 100,000 trade visitors travel to Berlin for the world’s largest travel trade show

Wellness or cultural tourism, beach holidays or city breaks, package tours or low-cost flights? During five days under the Television Tower the main influences and changes in the international travel business very soon become clear. Cultural tourism is a global megatrend. More and more people are deciding where to spend their vacations on the basis of the cultural attractions on offer at different destinations. The European international travel market is being strongly influenced by the increasing number of low-cost flights. They already account for two-thirds of all international flights booked by Europeans. That is contributing to the boom in city breaks, which now rank second behind beach holidays. Another issue that is also constantly raised at the ITB, however, is climate change and the environment. How will Alpine resorts be affected by the lack of snow? How dangerous are rising sea levels for low-lying islands like the Maledives? These are questions that cannot be answered in Berlin alone, but will be hotly debated at the ITB Future Day.
