The Certificate in Public Leadership

Program participants who wish to maximize the benefit of their Brookings experience should consider our Certificate in Public Leadership. This program of study is designed to equip government's brightest and best with a solid grounding in the core competencies required to excel in public leadership The Certificate curriculum dovetails with the requirements of many agency executive development programs.

  • The Brookings Center for Executive Education awards a Certificate in Public Leadership to participants who have completed 20 course days at Brookings, including attendance at The Leadership Lab and Leading with Integrity: Ethics-in-Action courses. Remaining study days can be spent at any Brookings course, including custom programs. A complete list of Brookings programs may be found here.

    There is no time limit or sequence for completing the 20 days of classroom learning. Individuals who have attended Brookings programs since January 2004 may have attendance at those courses applied toward the 20-day requirement.

    Certificate Foundational Programs:

    The Leadership Lab and Leading with Integrity: Ethics-in-Action courses provide an intensive and in-depth examination of critical leadership competencies, equipping participants to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing public leaders today. These programs provide a renewed and enhanced perception of public service values. Each curriculum is designed to broaden participants' comprehension and skills at challenging stages of their careers. Participants are encouraged to enroll in the programs that match their professional goals and career level.
