TV WEEK LOGIE AWARDS

The '60s

While the awards grew bigger during the '60s, with national and panel-judged awards being added and overseas guest presenters making appearances, it’s interesting that they were often televised only in part or not at all.

It’s also interesting that there were awards given for commercials (which were often won by cigarette ads!) and that the event was often used as a fundraiser for various charities.

Many of the TV stars and Logie winners of the '60s, like Bert Newton, Ernie Sigley, John Farnham and Normie Rowe, are still familiar to TV audiences today.
