TORONTO -- Australian broadcaster ABC has acquired the preschool series "This is Emily Yeung" in deals made by Canadians at MIPCOM in Cannes.

Co-producer and distributor Marblemedia on Wednesday said ABC picked up six one-hours of the kids series, which airs on Treehouse in Canada, Playhouse Disney in the U.S. and in around 80 territories.

The Australian broadcaster already airs "This is Daniel Cook," a companion series from Marblemedia and co-producer Sinking Ship Entertainment.

Also at MIPCOM, Toronto-based Shaftesbury Films said it has sold its live-action kids' comedy series, "Life with Derek," to Disney Channel Japan.

The Japanese channel bought the first 26 half-hours of the Canadian drama about a rivalry between two willful teenagers in a newly blended family. The series already airs on the U.S. Disney Channel, on The Family Channel in Canada, and in over 100 countries worldwide.

Elsewhere, Decode Entertainment reports it has sold "The Latest Buzz" to Britain's Boomerang channel, the Disney Channel in France and Italy, and to Australia's ABC.

The tween comedy features an ensemble cast fighting against deadlines and homework to get a struggling gossip magazine to press.

Family Channel airs the comedy in Canada, now in its second season.
