Oct 9, 2007
"Strix Television is one of the top light-entertainment producers in the world, and we're ecstatic to be representing the entire Strix catalog throughout Latin America," said Brendan Fitzgerald, senior vp international production at SPTI.
Added Strix Television CEO Aschberg: "The Latin American market is important for us, and our formats have had a fantastic success in this market. The distribution agreement between SPTI and Strix Television will strengthen our position in the region."
The agreement calls for broadcasters to license the formats for local adaptation and in certain territories for SPTI to directly produce the programs. Among the popular formats being offered are "The Farm," "The Bar," "Paradise Lost" and "All for One."
As part of this expansion, SPTI has retained the services of veteran television executive Victor Tobi to consult on all light-entertainment formats in Latin America. His scope of services includes format acquisitions, development of new formats and productions, sales strategies, international associations and repositioning SPTI's light-entertainment division in the region.
Alexander Marin, general manager of SPTI in Mexico, will handle sales in Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Central America. Helios Alvarez Filho, director of sales operations in Brazil, will handle sales to outlets in the southern cone, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Venezuela.
