MTV takes top Mobile & Internet TV award

CANNES -- MTV's "Best Show Ever" was named one of eight best shows ever created for mobile and Internet TV formats as the third annual MIPCOM Mobile & Internet TV Awards were announced Wednesday.

MTV Networks International's user-generated interactive show from the U.S. took home the best cross-platform & interactive mobile TV format award at the ceremony held in the Cannes Palais des Festivals.

A&E's "History Rocks" also represented the U.S. at the awards, winning the prize for best shortform audiovisual entertainment made for mobile and/or Internet.

Anglophone product was all the rage, with the U.K.'s Weakend Prods.' "Jeb's Jobs" named the best shortform audiovisual entertainment made for mobile and/or Internet comedy and Emmerdale Online Channel's "Hoodlum" from Australia taking home the award in the drama category.

The jury of industry execs demonstrated its appreciation of "The Finer Things" in life, giving the best shortform audiovisual entertainment made for mobile and/or Internet factual prize to South Africa's Speedy Prods.

Israel's Vringo Inc. won the best mobile service for social community & UGC category for "Vringo."

Winners from Asia included best made-for-mobile or film channel "Toei Anime Comic" from Japan's Toei Animation Co. and "King Boxer-Mobisode," named best short film originally created or repurposed for mobile, from Hong Kong's Celestial Pictures.

The prize for best film shot on a mobile device was awarded to "Colorful EU" from Hungary's Kodolanyi Janos University-Visual Workshop.

The ceremony was followed by a VIP dinner at the Majestic Hotel in partnership with Nielsen, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard and Alcatel-Lucent.
