The Hardware Compatibility List shows systems and peripherals which are compatible with the Solaris OS.
There are 927 systems
(847 x86/x64 systems, 80 SPARC systems) and
1576 components currently listed.
When you View the HCL you will see collections of Servers, desktop and laptop systems (and board level products TBD) and a selection of peripheral devices.
Sun offers Solaris Subscriptions for Solaris software running on all systems listed on the HCL - for information about available service offerings and details of the HCL program, see the HCL Overview.
Find out quickly whether the Solaris OS can run on your x86 system.
If you do not find your hardware listed on this HCL, you can use one of the
following tools to quickly estimate whether the Solaris OS is likely to work
well with your hardware.
Sun Device Detection Tool tells you whether the Solaris OS supports the devices
that are detected in your x86 system. Sun Device Detection Tool runs on most
popular x86 systems by simply clicking a link - you do not need to install
anything. Solaris Operating System for x86 Installation Check Tool runs on any
x86 system after you burn a CD and boot from it.
Sun provides a free download of the HCTS (Hardware Certification Test Suite) so that Sun Partners and customers can certify systems and components with Solaris on x86 for inclusion in the HCL. It is also possible to add hardware that has not run the HCTS to the HCL by listing it as "Reported to Work" based on customer's self-installation and informal testing.
