Texas Area Resources
We are building a collection of useful hyperlinks and phone numbers for Dallas area
resources. If you have a link that you'd like included, please send an email message to Webmaster@GordonFamily.com. Thanks!
There's never enough family time! What are we gonna do? Here are our top picks when we
go hunting online:
| Our first choice is GuideLive.com, the ultimate
arts and entertainment source for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, by WFAA-TV (ABC, Channel 8) and The Dallas Morning News. Use GuideLive to search for
upcoming events, or to find just the right restaurant, museum exhibit, or nightspot. |
| When people visit Dallas, what do they often ask to do? The Mesquite Championship Rodeo! |
| Sidewalk® Dallas-Fort
Worth by MSN provides several useful links. |
| Dallas City Kids is currently being
developed. We're looking forward to its family content. |
| Try the Dallas Family Web Links
for fun family activities. |
| The "Unofficial" Home Page for Dallas
includes schools, shopping, sports, and more. |
| Real Estate, Weather, Dining and Entertainment links are available at Hometown Dallas. |
| Virtual Dallas, extensive
guide including visitor links |
| The Lycos City Guides for Dallas, Ft.
Worth, and Arlington is a good directory and provides a searchable area map, local
weather, and parks and recreation information. |
| The Dallas/Fort
Worth Metro Guide at Yahoo! covers a very broad range of services. |
| The Dallas Entertainment Guide features sections
on current and upcoming events, restaurants, museums, hotels, shopping, theaters and a
huge D/FW Business Guide. |
| Techies visit Computer Currents to find out about
the latest technology events in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. |
| Going by Bus or Rail in Dallas? Good luck! Visit the DART
site for assistance with routes, fares, and schedules. |
| Dallas Links provides many more
miscellaneous links than we can maintain! |
| Connect with Dallas offers
additional links, especially to the many Dallas area Independent School Districts. |
The DFW International Airport now moves more
people by air than any other airport in the US. You can listen to
live air traffic control
conversations between air traffic controllers and pilots of aircraft arriving and
departing the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Other live communications from Dallas:
Tip: To listen to any of the live broadcasts above, you
will need the RealPlayer

The Dallas Fort Worth telephone system now requires 10-digit dialing. To place a local
call, dial the local area code (214, 972, or 817) without prefixing these area codes with
a 1. Unfortunately, depending upon where you are, some numbers within the 214, 972, or 817
areas may be a long distance call. You do need to dial 1 if it is. There's simply no hard
and fast rule! Visit the Southwestern Bell site or
the North American Numbering Plan Administration site
for additional information. These are interesting sites, but we've not found much
definitive information for visitors trying to dial a phone number in Dallas! If you find
it, let us know!
