Venus Williams earns fashion degree

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - Venus Williams now has something to fall back on if the tennis thing doesn't work out. She graduated Thursday from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with an associate degree in fashion design.

The banner day came after eight years of class work, because Williams' studies were frequently interrupted by her tennis career. She won her fourth Wimbledon title in July.

Williams has long professed a love for fashion and has already launched her own line, EleVen, at the department store Steve & Barry's. She wears clothes from the line, and everything sells for $19.99 or less.
