Boeing Delivers Enhanced 737-800 to Brazil's GOL

SEATTLE, July 31, 2006 -- On Friday, Boeing delivered its first Next-Generation 737 with an optional enhanced short-field landing and takeoff performance package to Brazil's GOL Airlines. The delivery was the first of 67 737-800s ordered by the low-cost carrier and will be used to raise capacity on the lucrative Sao Paulo-Rio de Janeiro shuttle. The runway at Rio de Janeiro is only 4,300 feet long.
