Welcome to the New York State Thruway Authority's Albany Corridor Study Website

Photo Montage of Traffic Along the Thruway The New York State Thruway Authority has completed the Albany Corridor Study. The Corridor Study was conducted on the Thruway between Interchanges 21A (Berkshire Connector) and 25A (Schenectady, I-88) in Albany and Schenectady Counties. The study forecasted structural, safety, capacity and operational needs and developed potential alternative solutions over the next 20 years for this portion of the Thruway. The Albany Corridor Study Report dated April 2005 may be viewed at local libraries. Click on Executive Summary and Summary of Comments and Responses to view those portions of the report.

The next step will be to add projects described in the study to the capital plan as the need for those projects approaches. Once a project is programmed, the environmental review process starts. The first project to come out of the Albany Corridor Study is the Thruway Reconstruction between Interchanges 23 and 24. The environmental work is currently underway for this project. As this project and future projects progress, there will be opportunities for public input.
