Accessibility/Usability

Accessibility

The New York State Thruway Authority makes our website accessible for users with disabilities.  Whenever possible we offer web pages in HTML or text format.  We may also post files in some proprietary formats when necessary, such as Abobe PDF format.   Adaptive technology users who wish to access Adobe™ PDF files on this site can obtain additonal information on Adobe's Website at http://www.adobe.com/enterprise/accessibility/.

Usability

This website was designed for and looks best in a newer standards-compliant browser.  All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional.

This site uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout.  If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the website.  On Windows, you press ALT plus an access key.  On Macintosh, you press Control plus an access key.

All pages on this site define the following access keys:

  • Access key 1 - Home page
  • Access key b - Skip the New York State Banner navigation
  • Access Key c - Skip main navigation and go directly to the main content
  • Access key g - Submits the Go button for the Search
  • Access key s - Places your cursor in the Search text box

The Traveler Information section on this site defines an additonal access key:

  • Access key t - Skip the Traveler Information navigation. The Traveler Information section uses an additonal tab-like navigation menu to allow easy access to each of the 3 main Traveler Information sections. It also provides navigation to all of the sub-categories within each main Traveler Information section.
