ABC renews reality fare

'Dancing,' 'Makeover' among returning shows

Back for another round are "Dancing With the Stars," "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Supernanny" and "Wife Swap."

"Dancing With the Stars" will return for a seventh cycle in the fall. Competish continues to perform strongly for the Alphabet, rating as the season's No. 3 show season-to-date (among adults 18-49), only behind Fox's two "American Idol" editions.

BBC Prods. is behind "Dancing," which is based on the format "Strictly Come Dancing." Conrad Green exec produces; Tom Bergeron and Samantha Harris host, with Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba as judges.

Bergeron is also the host on "America's Funniest Home Videos," which will enter an unprecedented (for a primetime reality skein) 19th season next fall. "Home Videos" has already entered the history books as the longest-running entertainment primetime skein in ABC history (only behind "20/20" and "Monday Night Football" overall).

Vin Di Bona exec produces "Home Videos," which this season has ranked No. 2 in its Sunday 7 p.m. slot among total viewers and adults 18-49.

Also on Sundays, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" continues to rank No. 1 in its 8 p.m. slot with adults 18-49 -- a feat it has accomplished since its premiere.

"Home Edition" will enter its sixth season next fall. Ty Pennington hosts; Endemol USA is behind the show, which is exec produced by Denise Cramsey.

"Wife Swap," from RDF Media, is holding its own on Wednesday nights against tough "Idol" competish, coming in second among adults 18-34. Stephen Lambert, Michael Davies and Stef Wagstaffe exec produce the show, which enters its fifth season next year.

"Supernanny," which runs behind "Wife Swap" on Wednesday nights, also enters its fifth season next fall.

Show, led by supernanny Jo Frost, ranks No. 2 with adults 18-49 and 18-34 behind Fox's "Moment of Truth." Nick Powell exec produces, with Nick Emmerson and Holly Wofford. Ricochet is behind the show.

As for "The Bachelor," show is a shoo-in to return next fall, but Alphabet web is still casting for that edition's lead. (Producers are also busy prepping this spring's upcoming edition of the show.) ABC usually doesn't pick up the show until a "Bachelor" is identified, the net said.

Also still up in the air: New seasons of "Dance Wars: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann," "Just for Laughs" and the upcoming entries "Oprah's Big Give" and "Here Come the Newlyweds."

Meanwhile, over at sister cabler ABC Family, network is close to picking up a third season of critically acclaimed drama "Lincoln Heights."

ABC Family is expected to order between 10 and 12 episodes of the hour-long, which would start production this spring. Show, which revolves around a cop who moves his family back to the neighborhood where he grew up, bowed last January, and returned with a second round of episodes last fall.
