Ford Focus Coupé-Cabriolet

FORD TAKES THE TOP OFF

Ford returns to Convertibles with the practical, elegant Focus Coupé-Cabriolet, designed and developed in close cooperation with Pininfarina which will carry out the entire production process at its Bairo plant.

The new Focus Coupé-Cabriolet clearly signposts the direction Ford is taking in terms of design and engineering. A stylish and stimulating but also pleasant day-to-day car that embodies practicality and construction quality, the offshoot of cooperation between Ford of Europe and Pininfarina.

This is the first Ford, in Europe, with an electric folding hard-top, that transforms from an elegant coupé into a stylish cabriolet in just a few seconds. At the touch of a button, the retractable two-piece hard-top folds backward and completely stows in the boot with a surprisingly fluid movement, allowing the driver and passengers to enjoy the excitement of wind-in-the-hair motoring. The car is a full four-seater with a generously-scaled luggage capacity of more than 500 liters of useable space that further underscores the vehicle's everyday usability and practicality.

The hard-top has been designed by Pininfarina not only to endow the vehicle with a bold, distinctive profile as a two-door coupé but also to guarantee maximum aerodynamic efficiency, also in terms of silent running, easy operation and long-term reliability. The solidity of the hard-top gives the car extra rigidity, essential for a car of this class in terms of performance and safety.

The bold wheel arches, typical of all Ford Focus models, give it a purposeful look, while the profile and rear views reveal distinctly Italian design cues with chrome details and a well-proportioned boot-lid area where Pininfarina’s contribution to styling has been decisive.

Customers will also be able to personalize their car to their own taste with an extensive choice of colors and trim options, plus a dedicated range of options and accessories able to cater to the requirements of even the most demanding motorists.

After developing the car, Pininfarina carried out all the assembly phases at its Bairo plant equipped with the most up-to-date production technologies.

“I am very pleased – comments Andrea Pininfarina, President and CEO of Pininfarina S.p.A. – that, following on the positive outcome of the Ford Streetka project, Ford of Europe has decided to entrust us with this new project to engineer and produce the new Focus Coupe-Cabriolet, thus confirming Pininfarina’s exceptional expertise in the production of niche vehicles”.
