BILLBOARD.COM SITE ANSWERS

Where can I find articles from Billboard Magazine?
New issues of Billboard are posted online at Billboard.biz each Friday at 3 p.m. ET. Subscribers can read the full text of each issue, as well as search the database for articles back to 1984.

Why aren't the full charts available online for free?
The dozens of weekly charts that Billboard creates are intended to be used as tools for those working within the music and entertainment industry, gauging the popularity and performance of singles and albums in the retail and radio marketplace. This proprietary information is compiled at a substantial cost and is sold to interested parties in the form of the weekly print magazine and subscription access via Billboard.Biz. Recognizing the popularity of these tallies, we offer the top portions of more than two dozen free of charge on the site for music fans to discover.

Why isn't this album/artist in your new release listings?
The retail availability listing of albums listed in the site's New Releases section is provided by our partners at the All Music Guide. If a title is missing or there is an error in a listing, contact feedback@allmusic.com.

Do you review/write about unsigned/independent artists/releases?
Yes. Select unsigned acts are profiled within the Now Hear This feature in Billboard magazine and the Billboard Underground section of the site.

Why didn't you review [insert name here]'s latest disc?
Literally hundreds of new albums are released each week and arrive at Billboard's offices, all seeking print and online reviews and/or mentions. It is physically impossible to cover all of them within the magazine or online. Billboard's experts choose various titles to review based on retail and airplay potential, as well as artistic merit.

Can you tell me how high an artist charted?
Specific questions about chart feats should be addressed to "Chart Beat" author Fred Bronson for consideration in Billboard.com's weekly "Chart Beat Chat" column. More information about submitting questions can be found here.

Can you tell me how many copies this artist/title has sold in the United States?
Specific questions about sales are within the auspices of Keith Caulfield's weekly "Ask Billboard" column. More information about submitting questions can be found here.

Can you tell me how many copies an album has sold worldwide?
No, there is no single independent body that tracks sales worldwide. Since 1991, Billboard has relied on the data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks U.S. point-of-purchase sales, to inform its sales charts.

You made a mistake/I know more than you/you left something out of your article.
