OFID sponsors the VCM

The Opec Fund for International Development (OFID) has announced that it will sponsor the Vienna City Marathon in 2008, which will mark the 25th Anniversary of the event.

The OFID has been located in Vienna for over three decades and feels that supporting the event is an opportunity to reinforce its relationship with the community.

The OFID is keen to stress the benefits of running for the participants’ physical fitness, with the director of the event saying: "Promoting health is central to reducing poverty and is therefore the most important unifying idea between OFID and the Vienna City Marathon. Running is absolutely the cheapest medication for the preservation of health."
