Interactive Sales Manager

Job Responsibilities:  Duties for this position include supervising 2 interactive sales Account Executives, instructing, by example and other ways, all WWL sales personnel in the most effective methods of handling interactive sales. You will also be responsible for maintaining close contact with local agencies & advertisers, and making sales calls with local sales staff as well as a close watch on competitive developments in the market place including the quality of competing salespeople, pricing, inventory, etc. Develop and assist sales staff to create interactive sales presentations; make certain that all paperwork, in connection with all interactive sales, is promptly & accurately entered into Belo Interactive IO system. Run daily, weekly & monthly reports on internet sales activity; reviews these reports with AE’s and sets goals for them and for the total interactive sales effort. Must be able to “think outside of the box” and provide the sales staff with interactive sales marketing concepts.

Experience Requirements:  To work with us, you will have a College Degree in marketing or related field. Minimum 3 years in a media sales environment. Computer skills & research data analysis skills; supervisory skills; verbal & written communication skills. Must possess a solid understanding of the internet and marketing and be able to apply meaningful statistical & research information to station’s sales efforts. Must be proficient in operating computer & various office equipment. Must be familiar with all aspects of the sales department, and able to handle additional duties in the absence of the Director of Sales.

Account Executive – NewsWatch 15

Job Responsibilities: NewsWatch on Channel 15 was launched over a decade ago.  WWL-TV became the country’s first television station to meet a growing viewer need for local news on demand.  This visionary round-the-clock cable service, which features rebroadcasts and simulcasts of the latest Eyewitness News edition, is now available in five metropolitan parished.

We are looking for an Account Executive with the creative ability to develop marketing strategies and advertising solutions for clients; a strong focus on new business development and non-traditional revenue generation; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong client focus; self starter & highly motivated. You must also be familiar with Nielsen and possess the ability to interpret meaningful statistical information.  Computer knowledge needed: Power Point, Outlook, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of OSI system helpful. Two to three years previous media sales experience preferred. College education preferred.

ENG Feeder / Uplink Operator

Job responsibilities: This position edits videotape daily for use in newscast.  Edited videotape is then fed during live newscast as called for by news show rundown.  This position also records several daily newsfeeds, as well as take incoming news material from ENG and satellite shots.  This position also does satellite up and downlinks.  New hardware wall require the ability to work on computer software at basic Windows level.  Very occational photography and ENG van operation required.  This position reports directly to the Assistant News Director.

Experience: To work with us you will need a minimum of 2 years editing, shooting and feeding experience.  2 years Uplink Operation preferred.  Editing videotape, operating KuBand upling, general computer knowledge (windows), ability to work under pressure, some news photography, some ENG van operation experience.LA Drivers license with a clean driving record is required.

Web Site News Producer

Job Responsibilities: The position of web producer requires many skills, some you need to have in advance, others you will acquire.

The producer needs to be able to:

-Write concise stories from news releases, live shots, TV news scripts and phoned-in reports

-Organize the hierarchy of the home page, moving it around to keep it fresh, having the latest stories and headlines and using stats to determine which stories deserve the highest placement.

-Good news judgment

-Ability to learn how to encode video stories and raw stories and to similarly place them in proper positions.

-Ability to triage news and feature stories, link requests and streaming requests to prioritize what must come first.

-Ability to learn basic html as well as various software programs we use including: Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, a publishing program, Windows Movie Maker and Widows Media Encoder.

-Ability to work with the assignment desk and reporters to get information NOW instead of waiting for the newscast.

-Desire to work with and learn new skills including, but not limited to hand-held video cameras, still photo cameras, laptop video publishing.

Experience Requirements: A good candidate will have had some experience in a print, TV or web-related news gathering and reporting organization and an ability to write. Good headline writing is also a plus, as is a knowledge of local sports teams, though this is not a necessity.

Bureau Coordinator (Northshore)

Job Responsibilities:

WWL-TV is seeking a Bureau Coordinator for its Northshore Bureau.  The Bureau Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Northshore Bureau in Mandeville, including answering phone calls and ordering supplies.

The Bureau Coordinator is also responsible for listening to police scanners, updating the Northshore webpage, and on occasion, working as a Field Producer at live events.

The position is part-time, 5.5 hours a day, Monday through Friday.  Occasional weekend work, and occasional south shore assignments are possible.
