It was small in that Hollywood Boulevard was not blocked off, so when director-star George Clooney crossed the street to greet fans, he had to navigate six lanes of moving traffic. But the preem was large in that the after-party was held in Hollywood & Highland's ballroom, which had been fully decorated in '20s period style and equipped with a eight-piece swing band.
The AFI Associates event raised more than $250,000 for the institute.
At the party, U production prexy Donna Langley described the pic as "un-cynical entertainment." Added producer Casey Silver, the film "has movie stars, football, romance and chemistry -- that's a strong base for popular entertainment."
