The world's first Hard Disk Drive (HDD) camcorder. The world's first DVD camcorder. The world's first DVD+HDD hybrid camcorder.

The world's first Hard Disk Drive (HDD) camcorder. The world's first DVD camcorder. The world's first DVD+HDD hybrid camcorder. What does it mean for a company to be the first in the world to release so many amazing products? It means innovation, expertise, passion, and a complete dedication to customer satisfaction. At Hitachi, the corporate statement "Inspire the Next" means more than just introducing new products. It sometimes means creating entirely new product categories, and establishing the new standards in the industry. We develop the technologies that open new worlds of enjoyment.

While our passion for visual excellence stretches back half a century, the first step in our remarkable digital camcorder evolution was taken in 2000, when we launched the very first DVD camera. The revolutionary DZ-MV100 overcame the barriers of traditional video cameras and introduced a new standard for camcorder media.

The spirit behind this innovation was a careful consideration of the customer's needs. We knew that camcorder users were growing tired of the hassles involved with DVCs, 8mm, and other tape- and film-based media. They didn't want to accidentally erase another important video, and they wanted to enjoy the quality and convenience of DVD, which had already begun to replace VHS in millions of home entertainment systems. In other words, Hitachi foresaw that the new digital video era would soon grow from theatrical releases to include home movies.

The DVD camcorder innovation opened a whole new world of capabilities in storage, function and control when shooting, recording and editing movies. As DVD technology evolved, Hitachi met every challenge and stayed a step ahead of the field, releasing the world's first DVD-R and DVD Multi Recording camcorders. However, we knew that the new direction would be in expanding DVD capacity and adding a new level of functionality. That's why we brought the best of both worlds together into the world's first HDD-DVD Hybrid camcorder in 2006. The DZ-HS303 offered longer shooting times, on-the-spot editing and instant recording to DVD, answering the demands of home video enthusiasts on all levels.

So we've already put a DVD recorder and a HDD into a camcorder. And we've already combined these technologies in a hybrid camcorder. Those ideas have become the standards in the industry. What could possibly be next from Hitachi? Well, with the amazing growth of high-definition (HD) in the past few years, video camera users need even more out of their hardware and media to unlock the incredible picture quality that HD offers.

Now we're ready to launch our latest breakthrough, which will raise the bar in the camcorder field to a new level of performance: the Blu-ray Disc camcorder. This will enhance the convenience of our HDD-DVD Hybrid and bring it into the full high-definition (Full HD) era. Not only can you take video in Full HD, you can also save in Full HD on the on-board Hard Disk Drive, and burn your movies in all their Full HD beauty on 8cm Blu-ray Discs, the future standard for storage media. All the videos you take can be instantly saved and shared for your Full HD viewing pleasure on Blu-ray equipped PCs and players.

We know video camera users are constantly looking at Hitachi to come out with the next innovation. That's why we are constantly looking forward. Check out the latest innovations from Hitachi and watch the new possibilities for excitement blossom in your hands.
