GAY FRIENDLY VICTORIA |
|
Located on the southernmost tip of spectacular Vancouver Island, Victoria's old world tradition meets new world experience. Consecutively listed as a "Top City in the Americas" by readers of Conde Nast Traveler magazine, Victoria has long been known for its British heritage. Victoria is also a cosmopolitan island destination alive with world-class accommodation, exquisite spas, and decadent food and wine. The pulse of the city can be felt through its cultured arts and entertainment scene and its bustling shopping districts. As British Columbia’s capital city, Victoria is full of life.
The rainbow flag is flown proudly in Victoria and is often seen on bumpers of passing cars. Victoria’s gay and lesbian community is integrated throughout the city and is not defined by a single neighbourhood. All visitors to Victoria feel safe and welcome which is likely part of the reason Victoria was voted among the Top Canadian Cities by CMI’s 11th Annual LGBT Travel Survey in 2006.
Victoria has a small and active gay and lesbian scene. Many events and festivities take place throughout the year including the Annual Pride Parade and Festival in July, which will celebrate from June 29th to July 6th, 2008.
