Outdoor winter sports enthusiasts are also enthusiastic about the Island's offerings. Skiing, snowboarding and other snow-based activities can be found at world-class Mount Washington as well as many other locations on Vancouver Island, only a short drive north of Victoria. Only on Vancouver Island does a typical winter day include golf in the morning and skiing in the afternoon. Also in the winter, surfers brave the chilling waters of the Pacific Ocean to ride the best waves of the year.
