Author Services

We have come to find that business book authors have a unique set of needs. Author is normally one of many titles that often include speaker, consultant, trainer, and businessperson.

The services 800-CEO-READ provides are tailored to business book authors and appeal to the businesspeople.

Book Launch

The first component is helping with a successful book launch. We have created a number of [avenues] to help authors publicize and create awareness their books.

  • Each month 800-CEO-READ chooses 3-5 books for Jack Covert Selects. These reviews are posted on our websites and syndicated into over a dozen newspapers across the country.

  • We distribute sales information in a number of ways. Each month, we tabulate our sales and create our Monthly Top 25. Our list is syndicated into the Knight Ridder Tribune papers. This list is featured on 30 corporate intranet sites and emailed over 2000 movers and shakers in the business book world. We also report sales information to all the leading publishers of bestseller lists.

  • We maintain three weblogs that focus exclusively on business books.

  • The 800-CEO-READ Daily Weblog focuses on news, reviews and information. Once a week, we bring authors host the blog, talking about their book and whatever else is on their mind.

  • The 800-CEO-READ Excerpts Blog is dedicated to running text excerpts. These are normally 2000 words chosen by the author and our staff. The excerpt is divided into four to six pieces and posted over a week's time.

  • The 800-CEO-READ Podcasts are dedicated to serving audio. The posts there might be excerpts from audiobooks or interviews with people in the biz.

Supply Chain and Distribution

What we do (and we do it very well) is get books where they need to be and when they need to.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

Can you send 1,000 books to my rich aunt?

Yes.

Can you send 250 books individually to each of my cousins (yeah we have a big family)?

No problem.

Can you offer them a good deal?

The more books you buy, the more books we buy and the better deal we can get and pass on to you.

Can you stock books for me?

Yes, but we will need to come to an agreement on time and quantity. You will also be ultimately responsible for the books we bring in.

Can I autograph them?

Sure. We can send you the books or bookplates that we will paste inside.

I have a series of events set-up. Will you help me sell books?

We don't sell books at live events. We've tried it and it hasn't worked well for us.

We also don't do outbound marketing. Again, mixed success when we did it in the past.

The group I am speaking to is buying the books. Is that OK?

Absolutely. We do it all the time.

They want to put a sticker on the book to get a little exposure.

We will print and stick. It costs a little more though. If the quantity is large enough, we can arrange for custom covers for the book.
