Zukunft mit MehrWert – sozial und ökologisch wirtschaften

Das Jahr 2007 war für die GTZ erneut ein sehr erfolgreiches. Mit einer exemplarischen Auswahl von Praxisbeispielen aus dem Tagesgeschäft des Unternehmens verdeutlicht der aktuelle Jahresbericht, dass die Partner der deutschen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit mit Überzeugung auf Dienstleistungen setzen, die soziales und ökologisches Wirtschaften in ihren Ländern fördern.

The social and ecological market economy. A model for Asian development?

The model of the social and ecological market economy can provide a perspective from which to approach the many unresolved questions in the region, and, after many discussions with our partners in government agencies and the private sector, we have come to believe that Asian perceptions of the state, the economy, and social values potentially match the concepts of the social and ecological market econmy in many areas.

Klimawandel und Sicherheit. Herausforderungen für die deutsche Entwicklungszusammenarbeit

Die Autoren der vorliegenden Studie verfolgen eine Betrachtungsweise, die sowohl sektorale als auch regionale Zusammenhänge zwischen Klimawandel, seinen Auswirkungen und den daraus resultierenden Konfliktpotenzialen und Sicherheitsrisiken beleuchtet. This brochure clearly illustrates the inextricable link between the convention and development cooperation, and how GTZ can support the implementation
of the agreement in developing countries. Numerous examples and back-up material highlight how various proposals have been developed in those countries on handling the natural environment with foresight.

Crosscutting issues in district development planning

A methodology for integration based on promising practices for HIV and disaster risk management in Lesotho and Mozambique.
This paper looks at the integration of two crosscutting issues, disaster risk management and HIV prevention and mitigation, into district planning in Mozambique and Lesotho. Based on promising practices used here, it proposes a basic four-step methodology for making crosscutting issues part of general district development planning.

Kartoffelwelt. Karriere einer Kartoffel

Die Publikation ist die Begleitbroschüre zur Ausstellung „Kartoffelwelt. Karriere einer Knolle.“. Diese Ausstellung hat die GTZ im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) anlässlich des Internationalen Jahres der Kartoffel 2008 realisiert in Zusammenarbeit mit„Das Kartoffelmuseum, München und  Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP) Lima, Peru (Internationales Kartoffelforschungszentrum).

Bolivia. Participatory Disaster Risk Management and Food Security in the Río San Pedro Watershed. Lessons learned.

The present publication describes and analyses disaster risk management and food security measures that GTZ successfully and sustainably implemented - on behalf of the German Government - in cooperation with its national partners and the local population concerned in North Potosí, one of the poorest regions in Bolivia. It also identifies the difficulties that a project can encounter. It is published in english and spanish language.

Low-cost devices in educational systems: The use of the “XO-Laptop” in the Ethiopian Educational System

A few months ago the “One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Initiative” developed the so-called “100$ Laptop” (or XO-Laptop). GTZ conducted a pilot-test of the XO-Laptops in two Ethiopian schools. This report gives a first overview on possible use and impact of low-cost computing devices to poor people in developing countries.
