Forum of Diplomatic Representatives for Human Rights and Democratization
At the initiative of the MFA, a forum of Diplomatic Representatives (persons in charge) for Human Rights and Democratization was established consisting of the representatives of the Baku-based embassies of several CoE member countries (Bulgaria, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine, and United Kingdom), as well as the United States of America.
The primary objectives of the Forum are assisting in better perception and learning of democratic processes going on in the country and abroad and encouraging cooperation in the field of human rights protection by regular information exchange.
It is planned that the Forum of Diplomatic Representatives for Human Rights and Democratization will be conducted bimonthly in state agencies, engaged in human rights and democratization issues (Milli Majlis, MFA, Ministries of Justice and Internal Affairs, Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Central Election Commission, General Prosecutor's Office etc.).
It should be noted that 1-8 sessions of the Forum were held respectively in MFA, Milli Majlis (Standing Commission on Human Rights), Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, Ombudsman's Office, Human Rights Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Internal Affairs, and General Prosecutor's Office.
The sessions of the Forum are traditionally open with delivering information on democratic reforms conducted and achievements gained in the field of responsibility of the forum-conducting agency. Afterwards, the questions of the representatives of international organizations, foreign embassies and missions in Azerbaijan are answered.
