Ocean Acidification

Following the success of the Cold Coral Deep documentary, the UNEP Coral Reef Unit is currently facilitating a television documentary to raise the international awareness of ocean acidification. This documentary will be produced by DEV.TV with support from the Norwegian Environment Ministry and UNEP for broadcast on BBC World in May 2008.

The documentary will inform about the predicted changes in the chemistry and pH of the oceans due to climate change, and the impacts this will have on key marine ecosystems such as coral reefs (both tropical and cold-water) and polar plankton communities.
