Support to the CMS Secretariat

The Centre provides services to the CMS Secretariat and to the Secretariats of Agreements to the CMS.

A synthesis of CMS National Reports that were submitted by Parties up to and including the 6th CMS Conference of the Parties (COP6) (1999) was completed by UNEP-WCMC in 2001.

A new reporting format for the production of National Reports was developed by UNEP-WCMC in 2001 on behalf of the CMS Secretariat. Country-specific report templates were sent by e-mail or on diskette to all CMS focal points and were used on a voluntary basis for the submission of national reports in 2002. The new format was presented to the 7th CMS Conference of the Parties (COP7) in September 2002 and was formally adopted by the 26th Meeting of the Standing Committee in July 2003.

The information contained in the National Reports submitted in 2002 is being processed by UNEP-WCMC. This information is available through the CMS Information Management System (CMS IMS), which was developed by UNEP-WCMC and is now available on the CMS web site.
