Support to CITES

UNEP-WCMC provides a range of information management services to support the effective implementation of CITES.
These include management of the CITES trade database and CITES species database.

CITES trade database

UNEP-WCMC manages the CITES trade database on behalf of the CITES Secretariat. Contracting Parties provide annual reports to the CITES Secretariat including full details of all export and import licences issued during the previous year. These data are entered into the central CITES trade database which is searchable on-line. Analyses are produced at the request of the Secretariat and others.

UNEP-WCMC also produces regular outputs of net trade in wild-collected fauna and flora listed on CITES Appendix II as part of the Review of Significant Trade. More...

CITES species database

UNEP-WCMC manages the database of CITES-listed species.

A list of CITES listed trees is provided here.

CITES Checklist and Annotated Appendices

The Centre produces a new edition of the Checklist of CITES species from the CITES species database, following each meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CITES. This publication also contains the Annotated CITES Appendices and reservations.

The 2005 Checklist of CITES species, containing updates from the 13th meeting of the Conference of the Parties, held in Bangkok, Thailand in 2004, is available in PDF format. This publication also contains the Annotated CITES Appendices and reservations and the CITES Appendices.
