Business: RenCap Cuts RTS '08 Target to 2,350
Renaissance Capital on Monday slashed its year-end forecast for the benchmark RTS Index from 3,000 to 2,350 and increased its equity risk premium for the country from 4 percent to 5.5 percent in a sign of continued investor jitters.

City Hall Invites Kids to The Party

02 September 2008By Marina Kamenev / Staff WriterWith 2008 designated as "Year of the Family," the City Day celebrations this weekend offer a number of events and activities for children and their parents.

On Saturday, starting midday, the Moscow Zoo will have a program of circus performers and clowns. There will also be re-enactments of popular children's fairy tales, as well as entertainers in costumes distributed throughout the venue. The zoo will be giving out gift bags and prizes.

On Saturday, the Moscow City Department of Education has planned an entire theme-park style event to take place on Bolotny Square.

"This year City Day aims to show children and their parents the many different ways that they can apply their energy, creatively, physically or intellectually," the Department of Education announced in a press release.

"The idea is to have a place where the whole family can come, enjoy spending time with each other and maybe learn something," said Dmitry Yeremeitsev, a spokesperson for the Moscow City Department of Education, who added that an estimated 5,000 people were expected on Sunday.

There is a pavilion dedicated to sport, where there will be a minigolf course and a rock-climbing wall. There will also be games and relays where families can compete with each other in sporting events. A separate pavilion will have off-road go-karts, where anyone can have a go at driving one.

"This will be a good way for fathers to spend time with their children," Yeremeitsev said.

A group of young designers under the name "Theater of Fashion: Young Fashion" will show off its new collection. "Children can try on their clothes and learn how to model them on a catwalk."

There will also be knowledge-based games, including one where family teams can compete against each other to see who knows road rules best.

Children's magazine Yeralash will have their own line-up of events, also including shows and competitions. Yeremeitsev was more secretive about their activities, saying, "I'd like at least a few things to be a surprise on the day."

Sunday's events are held at 4 p.m. at Bolotnaya Ploshchad. M. Polyanka, Borovitskaya and Novokuznetskaya. For more information on events at the zoo, see www.moscowzoo.ru.
