Under FIVB Supervision:
Successful coaches course Level I and II in Egypt with 75 Participants

Cairo, Egypt, February 8-: Under supervision of the International Volleyball Governing body (FIVB) and the good organization of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation (FEVB), the Olympic Complex Center in Cairo showed one of the most successful coaches courses for level I and II in January 2006. The Course was directed by FIVB Coaches commission President Mr. Yury Chesnokov. The instructors were Mr. Jivko Jetchev for level II course and Mr. Zoheer Ammar and Sherif El- Shemerly for level I course.
75 coaches participated in this course and showed a 100% success at the end of the course. “We are happy to see this quality of success in such kind of courses in presence of those highly experienced FIVB instructors,” Said the President of the course Organizing Committee, Mr. Hassan Ahmed. “We want to thank FIVB and its President Dr. Ruben Acosta for their support to bring this course to full success and this will help us to promote our sport all through the continent.” He added.
2005 COURSES
Beach Volleyball Course in Senegal
The active Senegal development centre will host again a new course, this time beach Volleyball course 12-16 June in the Development Centre in Dakar, Senegal under supervision of FIVB.
Twenty participants will attend the course instructed by the FIVB instructor, Mr. Max Meier. The course will include items for the players and others for the technicians.
This is the second course in Senegal after the Coaches course held last month.
The president of Senegal Development Centre Mr. Baba Sy stated that he is happy to see this course running to help Africa to go through this branch of volleyball and to develop this sport in the continent.
Successful Coaching Course in Senegal:
Senegal development centre organized a successful Coaches Course 9-20 May with 27 candidates from Senegal, Mauritania and Comoros. The course was instructed by Mr. Baba Sy, Senegal Volleyball Federation President and the Course director, Mr. Blaise Mayam of Cameroon and Mr. Mohamed Soilhi.
14 participants got the Diploma of the course after they had passed the oral and practical tests. Mr. Baba Sy expressed his satisfaction with the results of the course in this active development centre under supervision of FIVB. "The course showed all items of success and we have to thank all FIVB responsible people led by FIVB President, Dr. Ruben Acosta for their continuous support to this centre which is considered one of the most active all over the World," Said the course Director. "We will organize another Beach Volleyball course 12- 16 June 2005, which may increase the activity of this sport in future in the Western part of the Continent" he added.
Successful VIS course in Benin under supervision of FIVB

Under supervision of FIVB, the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) organized a successful VIS course in the Benin Capital of Cotonou April 29 to May 4 during the country hosted the twenty fourth African Cup of Clubs Champions. The course was directed by Mr. Jivko Jetchev, the FIVB Technical commission member. It comes as one of CAVB development programmes according to the World Vision 2012 aiming to decrease the gap in volleyball information system and statistics with the other continents and to widespread VIS not only in the continental level but also at the national level. Running the course before the competition helped CAVB to ensure big attendance of Participants as the course showed 23 participants from 10 countries; Benin, Cameroon, Congo Brazzaville, Egypt, Guinea, Kenya, Niger, RD Congo, Rwanda and Togo.
RD Congo organized a successful Coaches SAP Course

RD Congo organized a very successful coach's course 10- 17 June 2005 in the framework of SAP programme under supervision of FIVB. The course instructor Mr. Michel Vanermeulen expressed his satisfaction with the results of this course which was attended by 32 participants and 5 observers as they will help much the development of Volleyball in this important area in the continent.
The course was attended by a group of the most famous local coaches like Mr. Crispin Muleba, the coach of VC Casteb boys, Mr. Bertin Bukasa, VC Nigritta coach and Mr. Damas de Kijana, VC Lewis coach. Twenty seven out of thirty two participants passed the course successfully.
RD Congo Volleyball Federation President, Mr. El Hadj Issa Kalala Lucbeau was very happy following the success of the course. "We appreciate the efforts done by both FIVB and CAVB to provide us with all the materials needed for bringing this course to a complete success," Said Kalala after giving the certificates to the participants. "We will organize an official ceremony for the succeeded participants on July 8 and use the experience of the coaches in starting our programme to start volleyball in all schools in Lubumbashi..
Niger Coaches Course qualify more people for Volleyball Development
In there continuous attempts to develop the local volleyball the FENIVOLLEY (Fédération Nigérienne de Volleyball) organized a successful Coaches course level II in the capital, Niamey 8- 21 June instructed by the FIVB Experts Mohamed Haceni and Daniel Corea.
The course was supported by the World Volleyball governing body FIVB, the National Olympic Committee and the international Olympic Solidarity Programme. The course showed 19 participants who already had level I courses before and they showed good cooperation to help there country to have more progress towards the continental and world level.

Niger Volleyball Federation (FENIVOLLEY) President, Mr. M. Sidiyane Amada expressed his gratitude to the FIVB and its president Dr. Ruben Acosta for there support to hold this course which will aid Niger to progress according to the programme made three years ago. "Our project needs more qualified coaches to achieve our dreams of being one of the big volleyball counties. We also thank CAVB for their continuous support and we promise to have more progress in the near future" Said Amada
Nigeria Organized a highly successful FIVB Technical Seminar
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation hosted an FIVB organized seminar on Outside Hitter / Serve in volleyball. The seminar was held in Abuja, Nigeria from the 24th to 31st July, 2005. The Course Instructor was Dr. KHOSROW Ebrahim for Iran.
The Opening ceremony for the course was held in the Indoor Sports Hall, Abuja in the afternoon of Tuesday 26th July, 2005. The ceremony was well attended by notable dignitaries led by the Hon. Minister for Sport, Alhaji Sambawa, the Permanent Secretary in the Sport Ministry Ambassador Hart, House of Representative Sport committee member Alhaji Sani Toro, Director, Sports Department in the Federal Ministry for Sport, the NVBF President – Engr Habu Gumel, OON, FNSE, Mr. James Chidawa, 2nd Vice President, NVBF, Alhaji Dalhatu Husseni – Chairman, Technical NVBF and other members of NVBF.
. The Minister in his speech promised to support other sports and soccer shall not be his only prerogative. He congratulated NVBF for organizing the course and he felt elated that another sport event and not soccer gave him his first official duty.
The Highlight of the Opening Ceremony was the novelty match between the Minister’s team and the NVBF President’s team.
As at the close of the course on Saturday 30th July, 2005, a total of forty-two (42) coaches, from all over the country, have participated in the seminar. This number is far higher than anticipated.
At the Closing Ceremony, the participants expressed their profound gratitude to the President and Board Members of NVBF for organizing the course and pleaded more of such courses be organized in future.
In his own closing remark, the course instructor- Dr. KHOSROW- expressed his happiness at the willingness and readiness of the coaches to learn and the level of cooperation he enjoyed from the NVBF and participants. He encouraged them to make full use of what they have learnt for the growth and development of volleyball in Nigeria.
The closing ceremony was attended by Hon. Sani Toro – Member, House of Representative, Engr. H.A Gumel –President, NVBF, Dr. A.A Erinle- 1st Vice President, NBBF, Dr. E.O Morakinyo – 1st Vice Prsident, NVBF, Representative of the FCT Director of Sports, Alhaji Dalhatu, Chairman Technical Committee, NVBF and Chairman Civil Services Sport Club. The Ceremony took place on 30th July, 2005.
12 Kenyan Coaches Complete a Successful VIS Course in Nairobi
A total of 12 Kenyan volleyball coaches have completed a successful VIS Course which was conducted by CAVB VIS instructor Magda Osman from Egypt.
The important course which was being run along side 2006 World Championships qualification tournament which ended at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani with Kenya booking a ticket to Japan 2006 was organized by Kenya Volleyball Federation.
Speaking at the end of the VIS Course, Magda Osman who was assisted by Kenya Commercial Bank women volleyball team coach Paul Bitok said she was impressed by the interest the participants had shown in the VIS Course.
"This was a very lively class and after successfully going through the VIS Course I do hope that they will use the knowledge they gained in helping develop the game not only in Kenya but in Africa when called upon to do so," said Magda.
Bitok who is a former national team and a former professional volleyball player attended his VIS Course during the Africa Men Club Championships in Benin and he was so useful during the course staged at Kasarani.
During the VIS Course Bitok worked closely with Magda which enabled the course to end in time and the course participants were used during the qualification tournament where computers had been installed by Kenya Volleyball Federation for the VIS purpose.
Speaking at the end of the VIS Course, KVF President Ibrahim Efumbi and Secretary General Jacob Owiti thanked world volleyball governing body FIVB for sending a VIS Instructor to Nairobi which made it possible for many Kenyan coaches to attend.
"This course is very important for the development of volleyball and as a federation we are now calling upon all the coaches who attended the course to be ready to part their knowledge to other local coaches who could not attend the course," said Efumbi and Owiti.

DEVELOPMENT COURSES
Successful FIVB Coaches Course in Sudan

Under FIVB supervision a successful coaches Course was held in Sudan 1-12 December 2004 with participation of 28 participants from Sudan , Egypt and Qatar. The course was very impressive as mentioned by the course instructor Sherif El-Shemerly from Egypt.
He said that all the participants expressed their satisfaction with the very recent presentation of the course through both instructors, El-Shemerly and Moustafa ahchouche from Morocco. The course was held in the development center in Khartoum as the FIVB and Sudan Volleyball Federation provided great support to both instructors and coarse participants.
The course included the most recent volleyball training and coaching skills with both video and live presentation, first aid and prevention of injuries and update rules of the game.
Sudan Volleyball Federation president, Captain Emad Mohamed attended the opening ceremony of the coarse and expressed his gratitude to the great support of the FIVB to the development centre in Khartoum Generally and to the coaches course particularly.
Successful FIVB Referee Courses in Mozambique
The very first Referee Course in the FIVB Sports Aid Programme (SAP) took place in Mozambique at the end of June, marking the beginning of the 2004 season and making it a first in the context of the FIVB development programmes. Due to the high attendance rate, the six-day intensive course was full to capacity and some candidates had to be refused.
Several personalities from Mozambique were present to celebrate the occasion. The Minister of Sport, Mr. Joel Matias Limbombo made the official opening of the course together with the National Sport Director, Mr. Marcelino Macom, while the President of the National Olympic Committee, Mr. Joaquin Dimitr and the Director of the University of Mozambique, Mr. Alberto Grazziano brought it to a closure.
This SAP Referee Course is for the moment exclusively for the African nations: 13 of the 27 countries which benefit from the programme chose this option. The other continents have also requested this type of course in the future.

SUCCESSFUL SEMINAR FOR VOLLEYBALL JOURNALISTS IN TOGO

Aiming to increase the area of Volleyball coverage in the local newspapers, Togo volleyball federation organized a successful Seminar of Volleyball in November 2004 in Togo Capital of Lome which was attended by 15 sports journalists.
The discussions included history and rules of volleyball with some technical details of its coverage in newspapers and media specially that Togo will organize soon the Solidarity Tournament 17-24 Current December in Togo with participation of men and women teams of Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. The instructors of the seminar were Anani Foli Notsron, Togo Volleyball Fed. Technical Director, Referee commission president, Segbedji Kponor and the federation Press Officer, Noel Tadegnon.
The seminar included live demonstration of the game by Togo women National team and Video projection. After the seminar the journalist expressed their satisfaction and excitement about the game and promise to increase their editing about the sport in their newspapers.

International Teachers Volleyball Course in Botswana
The FIVB Instructor Mr. Z. Valasek of Czech Republic arrived Thursday from Kenya to Botswana to run a coaching course for the teachers in both secondary and primary school. The course starts on Saturday 13th August and will end on Thursday 17th August 2005. The main objective of the course is to equip teachers with the necessary skills in volleyball. Over 30 participants are expected to take part in this course. The course is sponsored by FIVB as part of their aid to help the growth of volleyball. The course will be held at National Stadium for theory and at BNPC for practical.  Sports Development Officer of Botswana Federation, Mr. Mission Mereyotlhe stated that there will be a youth Festival on the 17th of August 2005 at BNPC. The games will start at 0900 hours. "We want to bring this course to a complete success and to use it for more volleyball activities in the school level" Added Mission.
