In February 2009 television stations across the country will turn off their Analog signal and broadcast exclusively in digital.  If you have satellite or cable, you will still be able to watch your favorite programs.  If you watch television over the air, you will need to buy a converter box.  There are numerous resources out there to help you make the transition.  Visit www. dtvanswers.com for more information.

KRNV News 4, Reno's NBC affiliate, continues to honor its commitment to excellence by being the first station in Northern Nevada to provide local programming and newscasts in High Definition.

KRNV News 4 is among the first 25 stations in the country to make the transition to HD. KRNV News 4 has already been providing NBC Network programming in HD and has now expanded its facility to provide all of its local newscasts in HD.

In order to meet the demands of an evolving marketplace, KRNV News 4 began implementing the HD process in February 2005. The actual construction began in August of 2006. Hundreds of pieces of new equipment, thousands of feet of wiring, high level training and countless hours have gone into acquiring the most innovative technology to provide its viewers with the highest quality viewing available.

"Whether you have an HD TV set or not, you will see some breathtaking changes", said Mary Beth Farrell, the station's General Manager. "This is as significant and historic as going from black & white to color."

High Definition means that the viewing quality is 5 times greater than the Analog format which was used before launching HD. KRNV News 4 is also presenting a new look with an updated news studio and graphics to compliment High Definition. KRNV is a tapeless facility with the most advanced technology available.
