Traffic Management Act 2004

From the 31st March 2008 the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) replaces the Road Traffic Act 1991 and the various London Local Authorities and Transport for London Acts. What are the main changes to the act?

We want Tower Hamlets to be a cleaner, greener and more attractive place, where it is safe and easy to travel and where the environment is protected for future generations.

Along with the rest of London, Tower Hamlets is battling to cope with the increasing number of vehicles on the city's roads. We are attempting to deal with this situation through controlling street parking and promoting other forms of transports such as public transport, cycling and walking.

Residents agree with us that parking controls are required to ensure that parking on borough streets is available to the people who live locally.

Use this area of the site for information on parking, road travel, public transport access to City airport and other transport alternatives in Tower Hamlets.
