Rafael Aguilar and Fabrisio Ponce, July 2008
Sixth grader Rafael Aguilar and fourth grader Fabrisio Ponce were walking to school when they came across an elderly woman on Rock Boulevard. She said she was lonely and her family had left her. The boys decided to bring her to school with them because they sensed she was in trouble. As it turns out, the woman has Alzheimer's and had wandered away from the senior center after her granddaughter dropped her off. That is why these two boys are July's Class Act winners.

Nathan Kerr, June 2008
Nathan Kerr is our Class Act Award winner for the month of June. Just before his recent graduation Nathan was the Student Council President, Service Club Member and 1st grade volunteer. Through his responsibilities he has arranged for a canned food drive, organized a school earth day and tutored students every week.

Class Act: Riley Houk
Riley Hawk is our Class Act Award winner because in her four years at Damonte Ranch High School, she has been on the student council every year, heading up community service projects, organizing school improvement programs and reading to elementary school children. With all of that she has managed to be a national honor society student and this year she is the student body president.

Cassie Phillips Nov. 2007
Cassie's classmates say she is kind and caring.  She recently participated in the Crop Walk for Hunger and helped cook for the Family Promise Program which helps families in transition.  Just a few weeks ago cassie cut off 16 inches of her hair for a good cause.

Wooster High School Key Club Officers, May 2008
Our Class Act award usually goes to just one outstanding student in our community, but this month we have a small group we want you to know about the Key Club officers at Wooster high school. These young people have brought back the key club with a vengeance. They have worked tirelessly on community events and fundraisers to help out many different organizations. They have done everything from food drives to rummage sales.

Melanie McGarry
Reno High School sophomore Melanie McGarry uses her talents as an artist to help the community.  Recently she drew a special picture for the family of 4-year old twins who are fighting a deadly disease called NPC. She has also worn out her tennis shoes in several fundraising walks and volunteers for the Step 2 drug and alcohol rehabilitation program for women and their children.
