Eric Laing, July 2008
Eric Laing is a married man raising three children and still finds time to volunteer for his community. Eric Laing is currently a team leader with Washoe County's community emergency response team. He's travelled across the country to help hurricane victims and he's also been a member of the Guardian Angels since 1997 helping police find criminals and providing people with medical aid when needed. He does it all because he simply likes to help. More

Janett Massolo, June 2008
News 4 Jefferson Award winner for June, Janett Massolo, volunteers her time helping out at the crisis call center. Not only is she the head trainer but she also helps counsel those who call-in. Callers to the crisis center may be depressed or even suicidal and that is where people like Janett can help. More

Candy Rooney is the librarian at Scarselli Elementary School in Gardnerville. She s been there since it opened 20 years ago. She's very involved with her students. She teaches them everything from the importance of reading to lessons about Earth Day and the environment. We caught up Ms. Rooney as she was working with some pre-schoolers..
