About 24 hours after the San Diego State men’s basketball team returned home from the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout, and about 24 hours before it flew to Greeley, Colo., Spain only had one thing to say about SDSU’s travel plans.

Seven months of doctor’s visits. Seven months of treatment. Seven months of waiting.
Seven months have all led to this. After 17 visits in the past four weeks, and months of chemotherapy during the summer and spring, Kelvin Davis will finally take his last walk into the doctor’s office this morning for a radiation treatment.
Approximately 10,214 miles. That’s 53,929,920 feet or almost 24 hours worth of traveling by plane.
It’s also the distance the San Diego State women’s basketball team will cover in the span of about a week.
How can you not fail a coaching staff that was fired for being so poor? Head coach Chuck Long and his assistants failed to get the job done for the third consecutive season and guided the 2008 San Diego State football team to its first ever double-digit loss season. The team ranked 100th or worse in the nation in nine statistical categories and Long – and most likely his assistants, too — depart SDSU with a three-year record of 9-27. In Long’s tenure, the team never finished higher than sixth place in the final Mountain West Conference standings.
