He was also the head of the Romanian delegation at the Peace preliminaries of Buftea, in 1918, in World_War_I. The talks resulted in the Treaty of Bucharest of May, which consecrated Romania's defeat by the Central_Powers. Argetoianu was Justice minister throughout the year; he was Finance minister in 1920, and in charge of Internal affairs from 1931 to 1932, during the Nicolae_Iorga government. In the latter capacity, he engineered a crackdown on the Far_right Iron_Guard. He was sentenced to imprisonment after a Communist regime was imposed on Romania, and died in the infamous Sighet_prison. He was never put on trial. He had managed to write his Memoirs, ''Memorii. Pentru cei de mâine. Amintiri din vremea celor de ieri'' ("Memoirs. For those of tomorrow. Memories of yesterday's world") - a cross section of Romanian society, they are known for the sharp critique of several major figures in Romanian politics. {{RomanianPrimeMinisters}} {{politician-stub}} Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Argetoianu, Constantin Ro:Constantin_Argetoianu
