'''John David Eaton''' (born 4_October, 1909 - died 4_August 1973) was the second son of Sir_John_Craig_Eaton and Lady_Flora_McCrea_Eaton of Toronto. Eaton's grandfather was Timothy_Eaton, founder of the now defunct T. Eaton Company department stores (better known as Eaton's). John David's Father, Sir John Craig, took on the role as president of the company when Timothy died in 1907. John David Eaton grew up in Toronto, on a large estate overlooking the city. The home was called Ardwold. His mother, Lady Flora, was a Toronto society matron, and hosted many major functions at Ardwold. John Craig Eaton died in 1922, and since none of his children were old enough to take over the company at his death, John Craig's cousin, and John David's uncle, Robert_Young_Eaton, took over the presidency, a position which Lady Eaton would for the next 10 years groom her own son for. When John David Eaton turned 33, he became president of Eaton's. ==External links== *Eaton's article at ''Historica:The Canadian Encyclopedia'' Eaton, John David Eaton, John David Eaton, John David Eaton, John David Eaton, John
