US Route 20 [passes across the town. == History == The town was first settled prior to 1776. The Town of Warren was created in 1796 from the Town of German Flatts. In 1812, part of Warren was used to form the newer Town of Columbia. The population of Warren in 1865 was 1,611. ==Geography== According to the United_States_Census_Bureau, the town has a total area of 99.6 Km² (38.5 mi²). 98.9 km² (38.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (0.73%) is water. The town is northeast of Canandaigua_Lake. The south and east town lines are the border of Otsego County. ==Demographics== As of the Census2 of 2000, there were 1,136 people, 390 households, and 290 families residing in the town. The Population_density was 11.5/km² (29.8/mi²). There were 440 housing units at an average density of 4.4/km² (11.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.10% White, 0.62% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.32% of the population. There were 390 households out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.3% were married couples living together, 5.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.09. In the town the population was spread out with 23.0% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
